Chilton County finished the 2017 season with a disappointing 1-9 record. Last year Chilton County finished seventh in Class 6A region three with a 0-6 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs. The Tigers lost as many games as in any season since 2002. The defense allowed a team record 359 points last season. Chilton County was inconsistent offensively last year and they need some improvement if the Tigers want to be competitive. They only averaged 15.6 points a game. Chilton County struggled on the defensive side of the football last year. The defense found little success in stopping opposing offenses as they gave up an average of 35.9 points a game. The Tigers would prefer to forget the past two seasons as they have finished with a 4-16 record. Since 2010, Chilton County has gone a combined 33-50. Their 40.0% winning percentage ranks 41st in Class 5A over the past eight seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Chilton County has managed to compile a record of 109-142. Their 43.0% winning percentage ranks 42nd in Class 5A and 256th in the AHSAA. The Tigers are led by head coach Tal Morrison who is entering his second season at the helm. His team finished with a 1-9 record in his first season at Chilton County. The Tigers have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Morrison. Coach Morrison's overall record as a head football coach in one season stands at 1-9 (10.0%). The Chilton County Tigers will play in Class 5A region three during the 2018 season. The Tigers may find the schedule slightly easier this season with the move down in classification from Class 6A to 5A. They will compete in region three this year. It will be an uphill battle for the Tigers if they hope to grab one of the four playoff slots in region three this season. After just a single win last year, Chilton County will be hopeful of winning a few more games this season. The Tigers open the 2018 season at home against non-region opponent Stanhope Elmore on Friday, August 24 at Tiger Stadium. Last year the Stanhope Elmore Mustangs finished with an overall record of 5-6 and in fourth place in Class 6A region two. The Mustangs lost in the first round of the Class 6A playoffs to Hillcrest Tuscaloosa by a score of 34-0. Chilton County and Stanhope Elmore have met a total of 23 times on the football field. The Tigers have a 1-22-0 record against the Mustangs. They last met in 2003 with Stanhope Elmore winning by a score of 42-7. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
